Panasonic to Increase Semiconductor Production Outsourcing

Panasonic projects to cut semiconductor output in Japan by the end of March 2012 and increase production outsourcing to Taiwan's TSMC, according to an October 25, 2011 report by the Economic Daily News of Taiwan. The company plans to increase production outsourcing to approximately 30% to 40%, up from the current 10%. It is reported that Panasonic will scale back domestic output in all of its five semiconductor production facilities and cut around 1,000 employees.
